Mom gave me this little paperback book when I asked her if she had anything to read. She had enjoyed it but didn't tell me anything else about it. It was really an amazing book. It is the autobiography of Anne Moody, who was a Civil Rights activist. Her descriptions of her early life in a large family with virtually no income are descriptive and heart-breaking. I was so inspired by her as a child, seeing how her mother let men mistreat her and yet she managed to take that and rise above it. She was so driven to learn, yet could not get the same education that white children could gain access to...even in the collegiate world. I think everyone should read this book!
